How you keeping on that side? I took a few days off over here. Started to write this and just noticed the date…

I gotta say Rest In Peace to my brother Mark who took his own life on this day 4 years ago. The loss of a family member in this way is super hard to understand. If you’ve experienced this kind of thing, my heart is with you.

Mark, (yes, we were both named Mark. He was my brother through the marriage of my mom and my stepfather) was 15 years older than me. He used to look after me as a kid a lot and introduced me to all kinds of music and movies and experiences that were unforgettable. He was the best kind of brother you could hope for. He recorded a number of his vinyls to tape cassette for me and I remember he would always write on the spine of the tape FOR BEST RESULTS PLAY LOUD. and I did play them loud! 🤣 My parents loved him for that lol.

I miss him, and I think he'd be proud to see that I'm making a pretty good go of it on the side of the world. His memory lives on in me.

Yo, right as I was finishing up the web page for the new record, for some reason I started seeing bare negativity in the comments on Facebook and on Instagram. 

“SUCH A BITER” “WACK” “GOOD ATTEMPT BUT YOU’RE JUST AN IMITATOR’ ‘GIVE IT UP” “GARBAGE”. “YOU’RE JUST A KNOCK OF OF _________ (names other emcee) ”  … aaaand a slough of other gratuitous trash that I’d rather not repeat here. 

Wild. It’s almost like someone was really trying to discourage me, and I admit, for a minute there I almost was.

BUT, check it... I'm MAAAD experienced at this. trust me! I already want to give it all up, like every couple of months! FOR YEARS NOW! you’re toooo late! 😂

I've figured out that if I give myself some space to breathe and clear my mind every now and then, the feelings pass and I can get back to doing what I love. That being said, the spanish word of the day is ANIMARTE! or as Bob Marley would say “Lively up yourself!” 

Sometimes you just gotta be your own source of encouragement in this world. If not, I'm here to say KEEP GOING! don't give up on your dream.
